Along with writing the books I Got a Song: A History of the Newport Folk Festival and A Walking Tour of the Georgetown Set, Rick is the assistant editor at US Chess, putting together the monthly magazine Chess Life among other responsibilities.
He’s the co-leader of two musical ensembles — The Canonical Set and The Empirical Brothers — and co-host and co-writer of the Shoulda Beens podcast.
He used to write and edit for WTOP, where a day’s work could range from a breaking-and-entering story to interviews with former gang members to a history of the 1968 Howard University sit-in. He also edits manuscripts, essays, articles and stories.
